World of Warcraft Classicis slowly bringing the full version of of the original MMO experience to life, and one of the biggest raids and events in the game will go live on July 28. Version 1.13.5 will unlock the AhnQiraj content, which brings players to the sandy zone of Silithus.
When the July 28 patch hits, players will begin a quest chain to craft a Scepter of the Shifting Sands. Every server will also run a war event, where heroes turn in gathered resources like cloth and leather to leaders in their factions capital cities. Once the war effort has been completed, the gates of AhnQiraj will open. This includes a special, one-time event where players can attempt to swarm the zone and ring a gong in order to earn an incredibly rare and exclusive bug mount.
Even once the gates are open, there will still be some new content: two new raids, the larger of which will pit players against the Old God CThun. AhnQiraj is the penultimate raid tear of original World of Warcraft, and was followed by the undead citadel of Naxxramas. While Naxxramas was re-rolled out for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, AhnQiraj has remained an important piece of legacy content, and players will be able to re-experience it with the benefit of modern-day infrastructure, guides, and preparation.
