The total number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths globally has now risen by 1110 or 12.7 per cent, to 9843.
The virus continues to hit Europe hard – Spain recorded over 100 new COVID-19 deaths over the last 24 hours, and France and the UK each recorded close to 100.
The number of deaths in the US almost quadrupled from 10 to 39 over the time period – but as the US is experiencing long delays in virus testing, there may be many cases and deaths in the country that are not officially diagnosed.
Total cases worldwide are also climbing, with 242714 cases now confirmed.
Spain and the US are experiencing the biggest jumps in confirmed cases. Spain now has over 4000 recorded cases, up from 2162 just 24 hours ago, while the US has nearly 3500 cases, up from 1365 24 hours agao.
In good news, the number of recovered cases also grows – just shy of 85,000 people around the world who were officially diagnosed with COVID-19 have now recovered.
